Come Together

Friday, December 19th, 2008

ok. it is funny how so many things come together in life -

I have always been into handmade things - my whole life I have been drawn to handwork - I studied art from an early age and longed to be an artist.  Yet, I decided that my livelihood as an artist was not going to be enough and I left my handwork for many years.  During those years, I studied economics and banking - I worked in corporate banking for close to 20 years.   I met a number of people  during those years (the Estrada Family, Dewey Daane and Roberto Rubini as well as others) that would open doors for me later on to move my handwork forward and create QRubini.

Once Emma was born, I came back to handwork through her illness and through her Waldorf School, I started stitching and designing again - I created QRubini so my handstitching could be my business -

I am now working on putting together a line of cigars, cigars are handrolled.  Some great cigars are made in Ybor City.  My husband works in Ybor City, I would like the QRubini flagship store to be in Ybor City,  men smoke cigars at events where little girls wear QRubini dresses….. it just kills me how is all fits together - like someone designed it just so - all the little pieces of life fall together - I do love that song - Come Together.  Thanks universe for music.

I still love that fortune: the sure way to predict the future is to invent it.

Another ‘come together’ came this past week.  In seeking advisors and investors we have a package of information we provide to interested parties.  In getting some copyright permissions for this package, a very kind and generous author, http://www.evekushner.com/writing/ , wanted to help us even more and took a few minutes to provide some investment funds that she thought might be interested in investing in QRubini - the first one she mentioned was RSF http://www.rsfsocialfinance.org/, which my husband and I have been aware of since 2002 (we wanted our trust to invest in this - too forward thinking type of fund at the time).

As well, QRubini has supported RSF with a charity listing at our site since we started our online presence in 2005 and RSF has recently funded a loan for our daughter’s school the Suncoast Waldorf School http://www.suncoastwaldorf.org/

I thanked Ms. Kushner for her willingness to try to connect us to someone in her circle whom she thought could fund us and for her eagerness to help move us forward.  I find this trait -the desire to give and help move others to their goals - an attractive trait in most of the successful people I meet.   And in getting back to the coming together piece  - I just thought this was interesting that Ms. Kushner mentioned RSF first.  Mr.  Ruldorf Steiner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_Steiner keeps rearing his head in my life!

It is a small world after all, my friend.
